Ride Idaho is organized and administered by the Treasure Valley Family YMCA and the Ride Idaho Planning Committee, a non-profit organization powered by the dedication of local, Boise volunteers.
Our 4th annual Ride Idaho will take place August 10-16, 2008 in Eastern Idaho. This ride is non-competitive, with more emphasis on the joy of cycling and fostering community in Idaho’s unique and varied environment.
Ride Idaho showcases our beautiful state by offering diverse, scenic, and fun routes each year. You will explore Idaho’s unique scenic and historic landscape while building relationships with fellow cyclists from across the country. Our seven-day rides will follow routes that will take our participants through smaller, lesser known Idaho communities for water and snack breaks and planned lunch stops as well as overnight stays. Our ride offers a small community (200 riders) in which cyclists of all abilities, shapes, and types of bicycles to ride freely, comfortably, and safely. Idaho is truly the Gem State, join us for a week and you’ll know why!
The participants will not only have the opportunities to make new friends with similar recreational interests through the passion for cycling, but also experience the warm hospitality of the unique and varied communities we visit.
Our seven-day rides follow routes that will take our participants through and into many smaller communities for water and snack breaks and planned lunch stops as well as overnight stays.
The Ride is supported year-round by dedicated and dynamic volunteers, some of who have been involved since the first Ride Idaho week in 2005 and others who have participated as cyclists in past years. They work with the communities along the route, organizing lunch stops, overnight stays, and prepare the route detail. This is done in such a way that the host communities, non-profit organizations, and local clubs can create fund-raising opportunities by providing our participants with such things as porter services, camping and shower facilities, meals, entertainment and other services.
The week of the Ride is supported by friendly volunteers who work hard at keeping cyclists informed, comfortable, and safe.
Ride Idaho believes that in the coming years, the Ride will enjoy a widespread and continued reputation for providing fun, educational, and safe multi-day rides throughout our state. Ride Idaho will raise funds for groups supporting Ride Idaho’s theme of safe cycling and recreation throughout Idaho, and who promote healthy and active lifestyles. We hope to one day be a strong voice in the state, advocating and promoting the designation of safe cycling lanes as our state highways are repaired, upgraded and/or replaced.
