Registration is filling up
Wow, we are really clicking along with registration. At this pace we may fill in 2 more weeks. If you are still thinking about it, you better start acting. How many riders, how full are you, are the most common questions I get these days. I can only guess as to when the ride will really fill, but at the pace we’re going, 2 more weeks might be just right.
Why such enthusiasm? Have you been on a Ride Idaho tour? Small numbers, a sense of community and belonging, the excellent volunteers, awe inspiring scenery and what about chocolate milk at the end of your ride. Folks just drink that up!
Not only that, but we’re going to some great cities. Coeur d’Alene is holding an art and food festival the weekend we start the ride. It’s an easy few mile ride to the event on the North Idaho Centennial Trail. Sandpoint is a vibrant town with its own art scene, craft breweries, independently owned businesses and the giant Lake Pend Oreille. Take a boat tour, stroll through the picturesque downtown, or rest on the beach in camp. Thompson Falls is situated on the Clark Fork River, perfect for a kayaking adventure.
The entire town of Wallace is on the Nation Register of Historic Places. I can’t wait to get there! The rest day in Wallace allows us to ride the Route of the Hiawatha as an optional excursion. This world-class hiking and biking path is well known for its breathtaking beauty. On Day 6 we ride entirely on the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, another shining example of Idaho’s first-class cycling trails. Along the path we’ll have a rest stop at Idaho’s oldest building, the Cataldo Mission. Our last night will be spent on the southern portion of Lake Coeur d’Alene, on an adjoining lake, Lake Chatcolet in Heyburn State Park.
Every year Idaho’s scenery and communities provide us with a welcoming environment to participate in this sport we love. Touring on a bike is just the finest way to experience a place, get to know other enthusiasts, and find a sense of calm for yourself. Come along and join us for this incredible experience, Ride Idaho! www.rideidaho.org/registration.asp
