Ride Idaho is an all ability tour! It is an opportunity to showcase our state by offering a diverse, scenic, fun route with some challenging terrain. Ride Idaho is a fully supported 7-day tour. While exploring new landscapes and learning about Idaho's heritage and history is the main theme and focus of our ride, you'll be amazed at how many new friends you meet as participants and volunteers and the warmth and hospitality of the many communities we will pass through during our 7-day event. Ride Dates: August 8-14, 2010 Number of Riders: 300 riders will participate in 2010. We will cap our ride at 300 and we anticipate this year's ride to fill quickly. A waiting list will be generated on a first come, first serve basis. Once a spot is made available, the first person on the waiting list is contacted. Cost: Riders: $625 per cyclist Includes camping space; all meals and snacks; luggage transport; mobile shower service and shower facilities; mechanical support; evening entertainment; beautiful Idaho scenery; and great friends…old and new. Hotel rooms are not included in the registration fee and are an additional cost to you. Transportation to and from hotel rooms is the responsibility of the rider. Due to the size and remoteness of some towns, motel accommodations may be limited. Overnight camping is available the night of Saturday, August 7. Camping will not be available Saturday, August 14. Lodging: Below is a list of lodging options for those wishing not to camp. On the Road support:
The course opens daily at 6:45am and SAG vehicles will be operating from 7:30am-5:30pm. All cyclists MUST be on the course by 8 AM. You should come to Ride Idaho physically prepared to ride the entire route. Ride Idaho will provide ample SAG vehicles for continued and consistent support (medical emergency and equipment failure) throughout the ride in addition to support at each aid/lunch station. These vehicles will be clearly marked for easy identification. We will hand out rider numbers to help our SAG vehicles identify you clearly from the road. SAG vehicles will carry outerwear shed during the day. These articles can be picked up at the campsite each evening after the ride. It is recommended that you have these items clearly marked for your identification. Midday Snacks: Water and bathroom stops will be placed strategically along the route. Also, rather than a full lunch, there will be multiple mid-day snack stops provided along the daily route. Our riders have suggested that they prefer to have their lunch spread out along the ride! Luggage Transport: The luggage truck will carry your bags to the next campsite. When packing, keep in mind that you must be able to carry your bags to and from the luggage truck. Please pack as lightly as possible, and keep your TOTAL luggage weight UNDER 65 POUNDS. It may be easier for you to bring two bags with a combined weight of no more than 65 lbs. All riders will receive one or two baggage tags and must have their bags packed and to the baggage truck by 7:45 am each day. Because you will not have access to the luggage truck during the day, you will need to carry such items as raingear, camera, snacks, and anything else you might want during your ride. SAG vehicles will carry outerwear shed after the day warms up. These articles can be picked up at the campsite each evening after the ride. The aid stations will provide a bag and tagging system for your shed clothing. Mechanical Support: Rusty’s Mobile Bicycle Repair will once again be joining Ride Idaho, offering his incredible and friendly repair services throughout the tour. He will be joined this year by several Northern Idaho mechanics. As part of your registration package, Rusty's Repair will offer the following services without charge: Brake adjustmentsAll other services are available upon request for an additional fee. Rusty's Repair will also have a large stock of tires, tubes, and other supplies your bike might need throughout the tour. If you need anything special for your bike, let us know and we will make sure to have some parts on hand for what ever your bike might need. Feel free to check out our website at www.rustysbikerepair.com or call us at (208)590-0311 to talk to Rusty directly. Rusty’s Repair will be offering free “How To” Clinics throughout the week of the ride. Topics may include: Flat Repair and LubingThese clinics will be held in the evenings. More information will be available during the ride. Food on the Ride: Ride Idaho will provide all your meals and snacks along the route. Ride Idaho will be utilizing local businesses and services to bring a positive economic impact to our gracious hosts. We will try to accommodate people’s dietary needs as much as possible, but know that resources may be limited in more rural areas. Weather: We anticipate daytime temperatures of 80-100 degrees with evenings cooling into the 40’s. It is best to bring rain gear and warm evening wear. You may want to start your ride with a jacket in the morning. Preparing for the Ride: Prepare your mind and body by checking out our Training Section of the webpage. |
