Ride Idaho is a non-competitive event. It is an opportunity to showcase
our state by offering a diverse, scenic, fun route with some challenging
terrain. Ride Idaho is a fully supported 7-day tour.
We'll transport your gear; provide nourishing rest stops, breakfast, lunch,
dinner, sag service and mechanical support along the route. All meals are
included in the cost. In order to foster the Ride Idaho community, camping
will be provided at each overnight stay. A list of local alternative lodging
facilities will be provided to those who do not wish to camp. However, the
cyclist is responsible for transporting themselves from the campsite to
their hotel.
While exploring new landscapes and learning about Idaho's heritage and history
is the main theme and focus of our ride, you'll be amazed at how many new
friends you meet as participants and volunteers and the warmth and hospitality
of the many communities we will pass through during our 7-day event.
Number of Riders
200 riders will participate in 2008 Ride Idaho.
A waiting list will be generated, once the ride reaches 200 participants.
Those on the waiting list will be contacted in the order in which they registered
if a spot becomes available.
Fees
Riders $596
Non-Riders/Guests $226 (includes space at campsite and food)
A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. The
remaining balance must be paid (or set as scheduled payments) by June 1,
2008.
Registration opens January 1, 2008.
Non-Riders We
understand that many of you have friends or family who want to share in
this experience with you, but for whatever reason are unable to participate
in the Ride. These guests can arrange for meals and secure a camping location
by registering as a Guest. If a guest does not need food or overnight
camping accommodations, please register as an Independent Guest. It is
important for us to know who will be traveling with Ride Idaho in order
to provide the best possible service to the cyclists and our host communities.
Please know that all Guests will be encouraged, when possible, to not
travel on the same route as the cyclists. This is to help ensure the safety
of our cyclists, by limiting the number of vehicles on the road.

There will be four massage therapists on hand to work magic on your weary

They are Boise miracle workers, and available for the months prior to
the Ride.
On
the Road support
The course opens daily at 6:45am and SAG vehicles will be operating from
7:30am-5:30pm. All cyclists MUST be on the course by 8 AM. You should
come to Ride Idaho physically prepared to ride the entire route. Ride
Idaho will provide ample SAG vehicles for continued and consistent support
(medical emergency and equipment failure) throughout the ride in addition
to support at each aid/lunch station. These vehicles will be clearly marked
for easy identification. We will hand out rider numbers to help our SAG
vehicles identify you clearly from the road.
SAG vehicles will carry outerwear shed during the day. These articles
can be picked up at the campsite each evening after the ride.
Lunch stops
Water and bathroom stops will be placed strategically along the route.
Also, there will be a lunch stop provided along the daily route.
Luggage Transport
The luggage truck will carry your bags to the next campsite. When packing,
keep in mind that you must be able to carry your bags to and from the
luggage truck. Please pack as lightly as possible, and keep your TOTAL
luggage weight UNDER 65 POUNDS. All riders will receive a baggage tag
and must have their bags packed and to the baggage truck by 7:45 am each
day.
Because you will not have access to the luggage truck during the day,
you will need to carry such items as raingear, camera, snacks, and anything
else you might want during your ride. SAG vehicles will carry outerwear
shed after the day warms up. These articles can be picked up at the campsite
each evening after the ride.
Mechanical Support
Rustys Mobile Bicycle Repair will once again be joining Ride Idaho, offering
his incredible and friendly repair services throughout the tour. He will
be joined this year by several Eastern Idaho mechanics.
As part of your registration package, Rusty's Repair will offer the following
services without charge:

Repair will also have a large stock of tires, tubes, and other supplies
your bike might need throughout the tour. If you need anything special
for your bike, let us know and we will make sure to have some parts on
hand for what ever your bike might need. Feel free to check out our website
at www.rustysbikerepair.com or call us at (208)590-0311 to talk to Rusty
directly.
Rusty’s Repair will be offering free “How To” Clinics
throughout the week of the ride. Topics may include:

Proper Frame Fit and Adjustments
Truing Your Wheels
Adjusting Derailers
These clinics will be held in the evenings. More information will be available
during the ride.
Food on the Ride
Ride Idaho will provide all your meals and snacks along the route. Ride
Idaho will be utilizing local businesses and services to bring a positive
economic impact to our gracious hosts.
We will try to accommodate people’s dietary needs as much as possible,
but know that resources may be limited in more rural areas.
Weather
We do plan on having weather, but we haven’t decided if we’re
going to offer good or bad weather this year!
Expect hot temperatures (High 80s Low 90s) in the late afternoons, with
a cool off overnight. You may want a jacket in the mornings. In comparison
to past years, there is a greater chance of thunderstorms this year. So
be prepared for rain!
