Mentally and Physically
  • All participants should come to Ride Idaho physically prepared to ride the entire route.
  • Know the rules of the road (Idaho Code, basic bicycle etiquette, etc.)
Your Gear
  • Helmets are required at all times when cyclists are on bikes, whether moving or not! This includes when traveling from camp into and around the host community.
  • Pack basic tools in your seat or handlebar bag.
  • We recommend cleaning and inspecting your bike before you arrive:
   Check integrity of all welds.

Look for wrinkled paint which could indicate fatigue or failure of the frame.

Check integrity of wheel rims and spokes.

Check condition of brakes and brake mounting hardware, nuts, and bolts.
While Riding
  • The use of earphones while riding your bike on the route is not permitted.
  • If a confrontation with a motorist occurs, stay calm and contact the police.
  • Do not block traffic.
  • Be aware of your surroundings if you stop along the course.
  • Inform a YMCA staff member, SAG driver, or HAM radio operator if you go off the route to explore or go swimming, hiking, etc. Remember, that you are unsupported when you stray from the Ride Idaho route.
