Route MarkersRide Idaho route marking consists of biodegradable arrows made by routearrows.com. These arrows are stickers placed on the edge of a road and signal the cyclist on when to turn, go through an intersection, and the occasional reassurance arrow during long straight-aways.

Supplemental route marking is applied with gypsum, a white chalky substance that will reinforce the route arrows and point out caution areas that cyclists may be concerned about (pot holes, road kill, poop, etc.).

Ride Idaho vehicles will be marked with the Ride Idaho logo on the doors and markings on the windshields. The route support vehicles (HAM Radio Operators, SAGs, and AID stations) will also have Cyclist on Road signs to alert other motorists.

First AID kits for minor medical needs, such as aspirin, mole skin, ointments, band aids, etc. are located within each SAG vehicle, at each AID station, and at the information table in camp. Ride Idaho is prepared to call on the services of 911 throughout the ride for extreme medical emergencies.

Experienced bicycle mechanics follow the route every day in a support vehicle to take care of mechanical emergencies and are available each evening at the camping location. The mechanics carry a supply of tires, tubes and spare parts, but you should come prepared with at least two spare tubes to fit your tires, a pump and a patch kit.

Cyclists on the course after the official close time are required to ride in a support vehicle the remaining distance.

AID Stations (at least two) are set-up along each daily route. Each AID station will be equipped with water, snacks and/or lunch. Nevertheless, each cyclist should carry enough water and food based on each cyclist’s particular needs.

Support and Gear (SAG) Vehicles will provide assistance to cyclists on the route each day, by either collecting outerwear shed after the day warms up, providing water and/or snacks, contact emergency services or bike mechanics, provide transportation because of injury, illness, or inability.
